The “message from the same three faiths” is not, I say again, NOT the same. The Holy Father points to the importance of reason and Faith. There are natural moral laws which can be known by reason. The Islamist conception of God is not “Immanuel, God with us”, but and unknowable deity to whom one must submit, and from whom commands to do the irrational can issue. (See George Weigel’s book Faith, Reason and the War on Jihadism.) Islam has no calls to love one’s neighbor, but to kill him for unbelief. There is no salvific redemption, and no Christ. There does seem to be this: “He who wants to be Muslim does so freely. I ask God Allmighty to smite all those who are against truth and may God Allmighty Damm the liers.” It would be nice if the thugs, Jihadist, Islamists, terrorists, Wahhabist, al Quedaists, beard-wearing, finger waving, throat slitting murderers, bombers, torturers, and Mosque of the Golden Dome exploders would leave the smiting to God.
