My father-in-law was still reading it about 5 years ago. Don’t know if he still does.

The question is not who still reads it, but what do the people who love them think of the consumption of Playboy? What’s been missing in the dialogue all along is doing what’s best for others in their lives instead of self.

Hey, I’m pretty darn conservative and don’t consider myself a feminist. My mother-in-law is a-okay with pa-in-law’s “reading material”, so that’s between them. But it creeps me out and our children will be kept from their influence as long as we are responsible for guarding the innocence of our children. My mother-in-law says I’m a feminist, but she doesn’t see what we see from the outside of her marriage. The insecurity and pain, no matter how well-hidden seeps thru the cracks.

It’s not about feminism or even ultimately about sex. The issue with Playboy has always been about respect. . . whether it’s “hatef**k” threats or men indulging the ever voracious self. Women can convince themselves that it’s normal and try to divorce themselves from how their man’s (or any man’s) consumption of it makes them feel. . . but there will always be something inside that aching because of such disrespect.
