An Open Letter to Senator Obama

BuffyBot — Happily, I do know that the Black Liberation Theology (and the anger it incites) is not shared by all blacks; and I know of many blacks whose hearts are gentle, kind and loving – ones on whom the Christian message has not been lost.

I would ask you, though, to consider this: If you say you trust Mr. Obama does not share his pastor’s beliefs (and I cannot know this either) – then what does this say about the man’s judgment to allow his own young children to be regularly subjected to its teachings? You have stated those beliefs are evil and a “perversion of religion.” It makes one wonder: If he is so careless about the well-being of his own flesh and blood, what might he do with a nation of people who are dependent on his good judgment for their welfare?

For me, I study a man’s character and judgment first. Mr. Obama, sadly, has failed that test and, in my mind, is disqualified to lead this nation.

For Angry African, it seems you came to America about the time I arrived in Hawaii to begin married life. As you might imagine, Mr. Obama has stirred a real sense of excitement that “one of our own” might very well be president. I live but two blocks from the campus of the Prep school he (and my own 3 children) attended.

For this, and other reasons regarding my own family’s history, I felt a certain affinity to the senator. I wanted to know more about this man. What I have discovered is a man who has chosen not to reveal who he truly is – either because he himself doesn’t know, or because he feels it best to remain a mystery. And more disappointing, I discovered a man who would use others – at times ruthlessly – to further his own ambition.

As I mentioned before, Mr. Obama revealed his poor judgment – his choice of church being but one example; there are a number of others. And further scrutiny revealed a deeply flawed character as well.

However much hope many had put in this man, it is my opinion that our nation is at too critical a time in its history – and perhaps the history of the world – to trust its security to one who fails so miserably on both counts.
