If Obama ends the nominating process with even a slight delegate vote lead, I fail to see how Gore (or anybody else) could be characterized as a compromise candidate. Such a move would generate such cynicism and ill-will among Obama supporters that the Democratic party would likely lose a big portion of its consituency in November. Offering Obama a VP spot would be an insult in this scenario.
