There are two reasons this might happen: (i) many Dem leaders think Obama’s “Wright Stuff” problem, along with the fact that even the MSM is beginning to focus on Obama’s essentially leftist politics, may make him unelectable, and (ii) the Dems’ fear (probably well-founded) that they will lose significanbt numbers of black voters if they abandon Obama for Clinton. The hope is that Gore will be an acceptable alternative for all Dem constituencies.
