Self-hating boomer: it’s James Baker you’re thinking of, not Howard.
A general comment on U.S. aid and Israeli dependence: most of it never gets to Israel but goes to Lockheed Martin, which builds the absolutely vital warplanes Israel could but isn’t allowed to build for itself. Readers would be advised to learn about the short life and quick death of the Israeli designed and produced Lavie fighter-bomber in the ’80s. Thus, the country doesn’t depend on the U.S. for money, but rather for weapons…and of course, until now anyway, for political and diplomatic backing in a most unfriendly UN and world.
