I agree with Chuck. One of the great disappointments for me came when I realized Afghanistan would take a back seat when the administration began to push for attacking Iraq. The small Special Forces ODA teams in Afghanistan were killing terrorists, real terrorists, in shocking numbers. Then we dropped the ball and went elsewhere. Generals historically don’t really care for these small unit specialized operations, and would prefer large forces to command.
The Frontline story of 2015 may show that not only was Iraq the wrong target, but the greatest threat to western democracy breathed a sign of relief when we changed the focus to Iraq and began to nurture even more hatred for the west.
