I’m not much inclined to grant the government the authority to control our right to keep and bear arms any more than I’d grant them the authority to control a woman’s reproductive choices or grant them the authority to control the “sanctity” of civil unions.
Provided the People continue to present a divided front on the matter, more than happy to give the government a big stick when the beatings are directed elsewhere, it will simply grow in power and make ever more ridiculous claims to authorities we do not (and, in some cases, cannot) grant.
The Second Amendment is a prohibition on infringement, it grants no rights.
