The problem for Pelosi is that having reached the pinnacle of power there is only one direction left to go. The Republicans have been marginalized, so any challenge to her position will logically come from her own party. You can bet that people like Steny Hoyer are sharpening their blades for a serious knife fight. It’s strictly a power struggle amongst the reigning oligarchs.
Will it touch Obama? Not likely. Obama is very glib at least when he has his teleprompter, and the media will nod like a dashboard bobble-head. Logical inconsistencies between words and policy is not something this president needs to be afraid of. Nevertheless, reality has teeth. Eventually the president will be called upon by events to take definitive action in a crisis. Then will he be judged. That day is surely coming.
