The ideologuue of Sudan’s genocidical junta is a Sufi. Let’s talk too about the strong Sufi influence in the Turkish empire when it was perpetrating its worst atrocities. Same thing about Barvbary coast pirates.
You can find truly “peaceful” varieties of Islam but Sufism isn’t one of them. And those truly peaceful varieties have something in common: they are considered heretics or non Muslims (eg Ahmedists) and they take such liberties with Muhammad’s teachings and Koran you can wonder if their Muslimhood isn’t just a cover in order to be left alone.
