The passport breach story should have appeared in the back pages. It is not ready for prime time! At the present moment, it appears that a couple of bored bureaucrats of minor status were merely satisfying their curiosity regarding some famous people. I would bet money they might have been even more interested in the applications of Britney Spears or Brad Pitt.
The real difference now is that the “alternative media” can shoot down the idiocy of the MSM in the early stages. Only a relatively short time ago, they would have ran numerous stories asking the question “Was the Bush administration behind these invasions of privacy? Are any of the bureaucrats friends of Karl Rove?” The MSM would never have offered any evidence. They would just relied on broad hints and innuendo. After a few weeks, these news stories would have caused Bush’s approval numbers to drop a couple of percentage points.
