It true, they badly misjudged the man. I remember the commentary coming out of the mouths of Conservatives right after the election. They all seemed to be relieved that maybe he was middle of the road after all. I think they have disabused of that notion by now. Obama himself said in St. Louis last month that we shouldn’t be surprised by his actions. He said he had promised these things during the primaries and the campaign and now he was carrying them out. It was obvious to anyone that was paying any attention at all that the man is on the far left of the curve. The fact is that he ran a very transparent campaign. That we all are going to pay for it is quite true but we all knew what he stood for, that is if we wanted to know.
