I’ve heard enough from the trolls claiming that the Republican party is in ruins and devoid of ideas. Obama and the Democrats have shown up like it’s Christmas and they’re going to play Santa with our money. In fact, if I recall correctly, Hillary had a campaign ad that showed her hanging ornaments on a Christmas tree that said (among others) universal healthcare, universal childcare and such. At the time I thought that was a very appropriate way of expressing what the left wants to do.

Much like a divorced parent who refuses to play this game of trying to buy their child’s love, the right is quite unwilling to mortgage our children’s future to buy electoral popularity. At some point, Obama’s house of cards will fall down and the populace will embrace the correctness of the conservative policies.

The right is not bereft of ideas, it’s simply that their ideas do not include a bag of goodies. But that does not mean they are inferior. Quite the opposite. The most recent elections were not a rejection of these ideas. In fact, our current sojourn in the wilderness was brought about by our failure to adhere to our ideas.

The best government is not one that seeks a cause to champion, but one that allows the people to become champions of their own cause.
