Chuck Pelto has made it clear he dislikes/hates gay people so his comments regarding a gay comic are irrelevant. Even if she was nothing but pleasant he’d have nothing nice to say (hence his numerous comments…his attention is not otherwise as focused unless we are talking about guns or war stories). Disregard him (on this topic) and move on.
That aside, she went too far given the audience and Obama needs to do the same learning Bush needed upon being new to the office. Trying to smile and look pleasant when you shouldn’t takes some practice (given the international spotlight). Bush learned it during his first year or two and he dispensed with the ‘Dead or alive’ and ‘Mission Accomplished’ faux pas (no, not the same thing, but part of the learning). Still, if Obama doesn’t learn this lesson, or those are his real/personal/private reactions, he’ll pay for it (and rightfully so).
