RE: For Example
There are some things that will always be true. And one of them is- “you get what you pay for. And the other is “Whenever the government offers to help you, run like your hair’s on fire!”” — mamma
The latter is the proper response.
However, the characters that voted for The One to take care of all their problems were likely those who were either dropped on their head as a small child or were educated by the vaunted American public education system after it went into the toilet.
What’s my point? Something to do with lessons learned from history. Lessons no American public school teaches these days. For example….
In the end more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free. — Edward Gibbon
These same people who voted for The One, will likely not miss their freedom, as they don’t care about it. At least not until the government comes for THEM. Or, rather, with this national health care system, lets them die on the proverbial vine while it gives preferential treatment to the new oligarchy.

P.S. The only difference between Communism and a Monarchy is who gets the privileges. Look at Cuba. Compare it to mid-18th Century France.
