The argument is that you must defend your fellow citizens or you will be next. The primary , fundamental, horrible wrongness of socialized medicine is the government takeover of a person’s livelihood. If the government can walk up to the Doctor and say- “now you work for us – whether you like it or not” – it can say it to the realtor, the accountant ,the grocer, the trucker, their children, and their children’s children. And it will have to. Because the industry won’t generate its own money to keep it going. The money will only be flowing one way- out of the treasury. And when they start running out of that money- they will just let you die. No exaggeration. Study the European systems. They already refuse to care for certain classes of people. Don’t take my word for it. Look it up.
And it isn’t “free” you know. Look at the back of any book you buy. Look at the Canadian price and compare it to the USA price. That’s “free health care”. The Canadians are lucky.They have sheets and indoor plumbing that works. The average Cuban citizen has to provide his own sheets, food, and sometimes, medicine, when he is in hospital.The average Cuban doesnt get antibiotics after surgery. There aren’t any.
There are some things that will always be true. And one of them is- “you get what you pay for.” And the other is “Whenever the government offers to help you, run like your hair’s on fire!”
