I agree. Conservatives also shot themselves in the foot by trying to replace the spectre of socialism with western europe. I’m sorry but asking someone if they want to be like Sweden is a world of difference from asking them if they want to be like East Germany. The “europeanization of America” isn’t a scary an image as russian bread lines. Definitely not with the rise of the European Union.
