I regularly discuss political philosophy with my high students and typically ask them the following questions:
1) How would you feel if I gave everyone a 70% for the semester?
2) What percentage of your money are you willing to give to the government?
3) Whom do you trust with your money, a politician or you?
4) How will we pay for all of these entitlement programs and how will this affect you?
5) What’s a better system, democracy/capitalism or socialism? Why?
6) Is America a good country or bad?
7) What would happen if America did not intervene in world affairs?
8) Can we let every person in the world into America and where do we draw the line?
9) When does life start?

Nearly 100% think in conservative terms. Keep it simple and the people understand.
