FOX’s profits may be way down, but at least they aren’t losing money like the New York Times is. FOX News beats the ratings of all other news networks combined. Bill O’Reilly’s rerun beats most liberal commentators’ first showing. The only reason FOX profits are down is because the price of commercials has dropped across the board due to the economy.
As for growing a Jack Bauer, I contemplated that once and realized that not only is the technology required at least five years away, but even once we invent the technology, the things Project Bauer would be required to do to create a super agent are stomach turning. We’d have to inject the subject with nanites, subject him to all manner of torture, suppress his emotions, train him to kill ruthlessly, and then once he has become a ruthless killing machine with super human strength and increased speed, endurance and recovery, we have to be willing to use him.
