Blackwell: “We have troops in the field and the gratuitous release of memos and photos serves only one purpose: to make Obama look good to Europeans. It does nothing for the US but endanger our troops and diplomats. Obama is so far off the mark on this one its not at all funny.”

I agree that we should not be broadcasting any images of individual soldiers or agents who are still in the field of combat, as such a breach would put those particular soldiers and agents in danger.

However, your line of reasoning opens the door for any leader to justify the cover up of any atrocity by simply claiming that “We can’t tell you what we’re doing because any knowledge we share will put our troops in danger. If you continue to ask us for evidence of what we’re doing, we will conclude that you do not care about the safety or welfare of our troops, and therefore are an enemy of the state.”

That right there is how Hitler kept the lid on his death camps, and how Stalin kept the lid on his gulags. Just something to think about.
