Europe hates the US for one reason. We refuse to recognize their crypto empires. Try and sell a phone system besides Alcatel into a former French colony, for example. This crypto colonial arrangement goes a ways toward funding their generous social welfare state. Any threat to it is regarded as a threat to national motherhood, as represented by a welfare teat.
