Europe has become a terminally decadent society. As a conservative who believes in liberty over statism, I don’t really care what Europeans believe about the United States. The continentals can neither apprehend the dangers staring them in the face, nor summon the spiritual will to fight.

What care I about the opinions of a deluded populace? How many times must they learn the lesson that appeasement only invites tyranny? History records that when the Vandals under Genseric approached the gates of Rome, the able youth of the city refused to man the walls. Rome was plundered and the survivors sold into slavery. We stand on the cusp today of an historical redux, but few seem to see it.

Meanwhile, European politicians and a complicit press deliver sermons on manufactured crises like global warming and the dangers of an American hegemon. Faux problems are addressed with easy bromides while rioting Muslims and burning neighborhoods are explained away. Muslim “youths” are simply bored, don’t you see? Right. So were the 911 hijackers. So they decided to immolate themselves along with a few thousand others.

Decadence carries with it a price. This time the tariff will be steep indeed. The history books will record that Europe went quietly into the night and died with a whimper. The torch of liberty was passed to a new and more vigorous people across the Atlantic. We will guard the flame well and remember you in our prayers. RIP.
