Oh please find something worthy of getting worked up about. Columbus didn’t discover North America…he discovered the Bahamas. The Norse were the first ones to set foot on North American soil from Europe some 400+ years earlier. Columbus day should be replaced it is an incorrectly perceived and inaccurate historical event.
Yes, the destruction of indigenous tribes was tragic, but in the reality of the natural world not unusual. Species have been destroying each other for land and resources since life began. Ants, wasps, bees, monkeys all ‘go to war’ for food and resources. Lions will compete for territory, mating rights and food. Original indigenous tribes to Florida were decimated by invading Seminoles long before the Spanish arrived. The predecessors of the Jews were in place long before Syrians, or Palestinians even existed. The failure to grasp this simple and basic biological event of competition is almost humorous.
