So much angst over government spending! Where were all of you during 8 years of Bush/Cheney fiscal irresponsibility. Let us not forget that the current $1.7 trillion dollar deficit is a Bush/Cheney deficit. Obama’s first budget doesn’t start until July 1.
#7 salt herring…..”Republican leaders better start to ‘get it’ before the conservative base deserts them entirely.” And what base might that be? Fiscal conservatives left long ago if they had any sense, as the party “base” got hijacked by the religious right. Think about it–instead of debating real issues since 1994, our party leadership has been preoccupied by religious issues like stem cell research, gay marriage, abortion (code for restricting birth control), prayer in schools (prayers written of course by media giants like James Dobson, Pat Robertson, Franklin Graham, etc.).
#11 syn….”I cannot wait to leave Serfdom and head for Freedom, taking my tax dollars with me.” Somalia??
#23 BJ…..” there will be a totally new Republican Party by this time next year.” Lots of luck, if the religious right is still in control. But I’ll will head early next year to my precinct caucus for the first time ever to do my part in pissing off the religious bigots. Maybe even get some movement towards the fiscal conservatism that was lacking the past eight years.
