I wonder, though, if it is possible that success has peaked? If Gramsci were a stock, should we be shorting it? Gramsci’s tactics in terms of shaping debate and attaining and maintaining cultural hegemony seem to rely on material factors of production with much higher fixed costs than exist in the realm of blogging versus the realm of legacy media.
Even if that’s true, it is also true that the state educational apparatus remains under the control of Gramsci’s disciples and that is a tougher nut to crack.
