It’s interesting that so many people still insist on bringing up age-old Christian anti-semitism as if it had modern relevance. For all practical purposes I don’t think it does. I have met the rare Christian fundamentalist who is also anti-semitic, and strong hints of modern anti-semitism have supposedly reared their head elsewhere. Supposedly, Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” had scenes and dialogue that could be construed as anti-semitic. I wouldn’t know, since I didn’t see the movie. Gibson himself, unfortunately, chose to let loose with a Tequila-fueled rant that made him sound exactly like his lunatic Dad, so — who knows about his movie.
I see that some posters and the author reference liturgical examples of hostility towards Jews, but, really, how many practicing Christians pay attention or even know of these things?
Now, admittedly, I could be the one who’s wrong and naive, because I am citing examples from things I have not read and seen.
