Just wanted to comment on and correct the Daily Kos’ account re the San Francisco Tea Party protest. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/4/15/720477/-San-Francisco-Tea-Party-(photo-heavy!)

I attended the rally, my first ever, as I’m usually just busy with work and taking care of my family.

While Kos claims that “there was not one person of color at the event” except for “one black woman.” I know that’s false as I was there and I’m a person of color (and I’m not the black woman in the photo). Also, there were several asian americans as well as some hispanics.

As for their recount of “a fight between and old guy and a black kid”, I was a few feet away when the skirmish broke out, and it wasn’t as the Kos represented. First of all, I didn’t see the alleged “sign against capitalism” that the “black kid” was supposed to be holding. What I did see was a small group of 20-somethings, all in hoodies with their hands in their pockets and all huddled together, that then moved as one to block the way of the protesters as we were returning from Pelosi’s office back to the Civic Center. And it was hardly a “fight” – a bit of shoving that broke up in a matter of minutes.

Other than that one skirmish, the atmosphere was very good-natured, friendly and polite, and the signs in general were witty, insightful and patriotic. Also, I didn’t see any “yelling”, as Kos claims.

I guess we all know already that Kos is a propaganda site that’s happy to post lies that you’re then not allowed to respond to. Just wanted to set the record straight here.
