Janice Andrews, we have one of those lovely groups, same one I think, in Colorado City, Arizona. There was an attempt to break it up in the 50s I think, but nothing came of it and the evil bastards were allowed to keep on raping girls. I believe they actually operate like carnivorous animals: young men are kicked out so they will not be able to compete for the young girls with the old farts in charge. It’s truly disgraceful that this is allowed to go on and on. Why law enforcement doesn’t break it up is beyond me. Additionally, again just like Muslims, they have a higher incidence of birth defects because of inbreeding.
But here’s another problem: I saw a program on TV about polygamists living in Utah, fundie Mormons, but not part of the Colorado City group. Anyway, they are, like Muslims, married religiously but not legally so the extra wives and kidlets are all able to collect welfare so we end up subsidizing this appalling lifestyle. What is the solution to that? We can’t recognize the plural marriages because that would be very bad for women and our entire society, but we can’t leave the children to starve and if the children aren’t being abused (until they are old enough for old farts to screw, age varies with religion), the local version of Child Protective Services won’t remove them from the home.
So, short of dismantling the entire welfare system, how is this to be solved?
