I think you are exactly right. There is an old saw in journalism: “Don’t trust the story that is too good to check.” These days, people only remember the last part. Why ruin a perfectly good story with a single fact-checking phone call.
When bloggers start making those calls (and many are already), the MSM will be doomed.
