Obama at Notre Dame: An Opportunity We Should Not Waste

I would like to suggest to Notre Dame a dialogue with Mr. Obama on abortion that might be made without any confrontation whatsoever.

I would like to suggest a dialogue without words (no, that is not an oxymoron).

I suggest that at the same time Mr. Obama is to receive his honorary degree that, for example, a retired nun who was arrested outside an abortion clinic mount the stage to receive the very same honor.

In my scenario, the presenter would, of course, give biographical information on each awardee and the reasons for the award being given.

People in attendance would then be able to see the difference between piety, humility, and a life lived for God and that of Mr. Obama (or any other politician for that matter).

I would suspect that, as the audience heard about the awardees’ very different lives and their very different actions, the point would be made in a very Christian manner.

There are those who will not hear because they have closed their minds and their hearts to the Word. We cannot speak to them but there are others who may be listening. They are our audience and they may want to hear what we believers have to say.

I suspect Mr. Obama is lost. It’s unfortunate.
