You have good intentions, but I am very disappointed in your conclusions. This is not an open dialogue or a teachable moment for Obama. He is speaking at a Catholic college to students which tells them that his opinions are the ones they should be listening to. He is being HONORED by Catholics when he couldn’t be more against Catholic basic fundamental moral principles.
I am ashamed to be a Catholic these days. With every weak statement about “engaging in dialogue” with the other side, we continue to chip away at our Catholic identity. If a Catholic instution can honor someone like Obama in this manner, and people like Biden and Pelosi continue to go to Communion and talk about how “ardent” they are in their faith, then being Catholic doesn’t really mean much anymore.
I don’t think I’m going to remain in the Church much longer. My husband and I are seriously considering joining the Orthodox Church. At least there we won’t have the Church making a mockery of herself for all the world to see, bringing shame on her own people.
