What I think is difficult about this is that part of the underlying issue brings up the insight of Jesus told to Peter in the Palm Sunday Gospel, ‘The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’ This is also the point of a recent Onion joke. What is discouraging is that Notre Dame has shown the same weakness of the flesh over having an avant-garde president grace the property. If that is such a temptation for the president of the university, what hope do we have for the co-eds.
