I think that David S (#4) makes a good point. Marriage as defined by the law of the land is a legal contract between two people. I am a conservative, and will not be picketing when my government makes a civil union between same sexes legal. However, I will protest at my church if my church redefines marriage as sacrament, or covenant between anything other than a man and a woman.
There needs to be a clear line between church and state. It is imperative conservatives rally to the cause of individual rights, and separation of church and state.
