Yes, NY has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. But the answer to any failure of law is more laws, because that is what lawyers (and our legislators are lawyers) do.
Of course, had the government not mucked up our economy and created incentives for IBM to move jobs overseas, then the killer wouldn’t have lost his job, and quite likely this massacre wouldn’t have happened.
It’s interesting that the police took over an hour to enter the building. That old saying about when you need a cop now one is only minutes away was an exaggeration. I write this not to denigrate the police, but to note that nobody can ensure your safety at all times but you.
