I once visited a friend on mine in San Francisco in the late seventies; he lived in the Haight and we went to some hyper-eclectic cafe for a meal. I noticed a poster on the restaurant’s community bulletin board saying, in effect, “Protest Demonstration, Golden Gate Park, Wednesday, 1 PM.”
That was it, no declaration of cause or reason, just that there was to be a protest.
It was so-o-o-o-o-o instructive.
