Guilty: Muslim Family in Canada Convicted in Honor Killings
Phyllis, 25 years is the longest sentence in Canada. This is our law. We do not have capital punishment. This is also our law. Canada is not the United States just because we speak English and are next door to you. We have our own philosophies and culture. Canada, unlike the U.S., did not begin as a colony of fundamental Christians. Our laws and our values are not founded on the Protestant Work Ethic.
25 years in Kingston Peniteniary will be 25 years in hell. The boy will certainly become someone’s girlfriend almost immediately – for the next 25 years he can experience what it is like to have no control over your life or your sexuality. The father is not likely to be anyone’s bedmate, but he will be contolled, humiliated and almost certainly beaten by fellow inmates – child killers and Muslims being right at the bottom of the prison hierarchy. As for Mum…well they need bedmates on the women’s side and she’s not that old and properly submissive. And women inmates have one really, really big taboo – you don’t kill your kids. Trust me, I worked in a maximum security Canadian prison for five years. Tooba will not be having fun.
By the time they get out, the parents will be old – their lives almost over – even the son will be in his late 40s.
Canada has shown that it will not tolerate honour killings – our government made that very clear in their revised information for people thinking of immigrating to Canada – and unlike the U.S. we call it what it is – not domestic violence – honour killing.
