First, before the “you’re fired” remark gets too widely distorted, the context is important. Didn’t Mitt basically say, “In view of the massive debt and other problems we’re facing … I’d say ‘you’re fired’ to anyone making the moon base proposal.” (Paraphrased, of course.)

Second, every micro, small and medium-sized business owner I know is seeking some sense of predictability from government, a steady march to fix things backed by action not speechifying, and some combination of tax and regulatory relief. Mitt’s business success implies he might be able to pull this off. Along with all the other great tips, he must start stating this simply, clearly and consistently. The subsequent sound you’d hear is the rumble of business folk moving from undecided to Mitt in 2012.
