Stewart is in it for ratings. The problem is that he focused his comedy at Bush and the Republicans when they were unpopular, and he this got ratings. It also provided a liberal audience. Simply put, Stewart can’t make fun of Obama. If he did, he would lose his audience, an audience that has come to expect a good bashing of conservativism every night.

He has to be liberal. He’s put himself in that box. To be honest, it’s got to be hard for him right now. There are so many funny Obama gaffes that are rippable, but he just can’t go there. So he has to manufacture outrage at Jim Cramer. Jim Cramer? Create a feud with Cramer. Get the audience whipped up. Lay into AIG (but not the administration for its role). Next week it will be another manufactured crisis (Repubs and stem cells, Repubs and the death penalty, Repubs and abortion, Repubs and gay rights, Repubs and obstructionism). All the while, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Who’s Obama? We have Cramer to blast!
