Those who have been oppressed grow weary of always being watchful and are vulnerable to those who give the appearance of acceptance and protection. Progressives, whose ideas have some overlap with Judaism (though hardly as much as advertised) have offered this acceptance, but only at the price of conversion. Not conversion to Christianity, but to liberalism. The road to this conversion has been long and without signposts, but many have taken it. Many Jews can no longer distinguish progressivism with a sprinkling of yiddish words and a NYC bias from actual Judaism.
It is a profoundly sad development on many levels.
