At the root of the American Jewish (the Israeli perspective is rather different) error is faulty analysis and inability/unwillingness to recognize changes to the political landscape. The faulty analysis part is seeing the primary enemy as Fascism, and committing the “enemy of an enemy” error to conclude that salvation lies in Communism. Most American Jews are still fighting Hitler by embracing any and all things left of center.
Then to compound that, they ignore the fact that Fascism as we knew it in 1930s is as dead as Elvis, and a different form of Fascism (ironically embraced by the left) is on the rise.
So Hitler’s dead, Stalin’s dead, Nazism was vanquished, and Communism is thoroughly discredited, an enemy as virulent and dangerous as Hitler is on the rise, and what to they do? They’re still trying to support Stalin in the hopes that he’ll defeat Hitler. And in the process, they’re supporting the new Nazis.
