Chuck Pelto, you’re right that there’s a difference between the words “brought” and “shipped.” The distinction just doesn’t amount to anything here.
Arab slave traders were not engaged in bringing slaves across the Atlantic, nor did they “ship” any slaves across, whether themselves or through intermediaries. It’s possible that Spinoneone was thinking of the trans-Saharan slave trade to Arab lands, but that was a different slave trade.
