My Representative Went to Congress and All I Got Was This Stupid Debt
If we had to have a stimulus package — and that is indeed a big “if” — why wasn’t it focused and packaged in a way so we could get something tangible for all that money? It could have been the moon shot for energy independence, for example: “We MUST spend a trillion dollars, but at least we will develop all our energy sources, including the best alternative and conventional forms, so that our children, in exchange for the debt we’re saddling them with, will have abundant, safe — and independent — energy upon which to build and grow the economy.” Perhaps that would have been a program to inspire us, garner support, and give us something to look forward to. As it is, we’re already having to look around and ask “what the f*** did we spend all that money on?” I’m 66, and in my lifetime I have never seen anything more cynical, dangerous, dishonest, and just plain stupid jammed down the throats of US citizens.
