What is “the way” that Axelrod seeks by putting this conversation out in the world? That is the question. He, after all, is a political strategist and his value to Obama is that he knows what conversations to place in the national conversation to have Obama win.

Given Obama’s anti-American, even anti-human results of the last 3 years, Axelrod would rather have us ranting over the pros and cons of Reverend Wright than the dismal failure of Barack Obama. Truth as correspondence to reality is not the measure of what is going on once you are in a political dogfight.

Axelrod knows that people are always concerned about how people’s statements correspond to reality. Knowing that, he manipulates that drive to shift our attention away from what he is working to slip under the radar. Axelrod is a smart snake.

If you want to really get to Axelrod, you have to take on the whole academic world that is governed right now by postmodernist philosophy. In that world, there is no truth to mean correspondence to reality. There is only truth to mean what you can get people to believe. Thus the narrative and its survival becomes all important. And Axelrod works the narrative – first and foremost.
