A great number of minority (especially older generation and Latinos) are social and religious conservatives. Prop 8 passed with great minority support. They support the dems because the lefists successfully cater to their sense of entitlements, victimhood mentality, and open border wishes. Vietnamese and other Asians are always sympathetic to the GOP due to their historic anti communism stand.

It’s a total myth that conservatives are a dying breed, although the younger generation will be indeed less conservative. The GOP just bumbles away opportunity to attract church / mass attending Latinos who should be their most reliable voting base.

Centrist parties like the libertarians can barely escape the Ralph Nader Zone when it comes to popular vote. Mind you, most libertarians are pro abortion, anti war, pro gay marriage and legalization of drugs. But they fight against welfare and big govt. entitlement programs (unions too) and that’s reason enough for leftists and “moderates” to not approach them. I find the notion of a pro choice, big govt GOP candidate winning a landslide with tremendous “moderate” support laughable.
