I’m still completely stumped as to how anyone in their right mind–let alone people who’ve been covering politics for decades and ought to know better–ever trusted Barack Obama. Since when have politicians’ pretty words ever meant anything? The first rule of political discernment is: Look at what they DID yesterday, not at what they SAY today. Obama’s radical record was right there for anyone to see. How were they able to delude themselves that the individual with THE most left-wing voting record in the Senate was actually a “moderate”? Did they think they could wave a magic wand over that voting record and make it go away? I’m always amazed when I see literate, educated adults falling into the “magical thinking” that child-development professionals tell us should be outgrown by the time a child reaches the age of reason.
If nothing else, Obama’s repeated opposition in the Illinois Senate to born-alive infant protection legislation should have raised red flags. They should have been asking themselves: What on earth kind of person supports leaving already-born, living, breathing, squirming little babies in a dirty-linen closet to die a slow death from suffocation and/or dehydration? Anyone who could take that position has something WRONG with them! They’re either mentally unbalanced or morally abominable, or both.
If a person is so clueless that they can’t see anything wrong with something as OBVIOUSLY evil as infanticide, what on earth would make you think you could trust their judgment on matters that are far, far more complex, such as the economy? And if a person is so MORALLY clueless that they can’t see anything wrong with child-murder, what would lead you to believe that they would draw a line at much lesser evils such as lying, cheating and stealing?
Looking at Obama’s record in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate, his resume (ACORN-affiliated community organizing, sharing an office with Bill Ayers for 3 years, etc.), along with his personal associations (not only Ayers but also Jeremiah Wright, Rashid Khalidi, Khalid Mansour, Tony Rezko, etc.) and his dirty-tricks political style (the ways he got all his opponents knocked off the ballot or otherwise forced out), it was pretty damn obvious to me a long time ago what a scoundrel he was. I have a real hard time feeling any sympathy for these idiots who should’ve known better, who had access to all the same information that I did but simply REFUSED to take it seriously and draw the obvious conclusion.
