- American Constitution and the bill of rights
- Emancipation
- Right to vote
- Civil Rights
- 8 hour work day and 40 hour work week
- child labor laws and work safety rules
- the new deal
- environmental protection
- promotion of basic scientific research
- freedom of speech
- I could go on and on – what ideas do you guys have?
