You know something psychologically strange? Everyone knows Romney was far to the left of McCain (even ran to the left of Ted Kennedy on gay rights) and yet they believe Romney’s conversation and don’t believe McCain when he says he’d put up a border fence. This strikes me as almost delusional thinking. One thing we know about McCain is compared to most politicians he’s a man of his word. We don’t know anything about the mercurial Romney. But that doesn’t stop people from belieing he’s the conservative’s conservative. I think the shrinks call that “magical thinking.”
