Sharia cannot exist side-by-side with European liberal traditions. No accommodation is possible as long as moderate Muslims remain mute. Silence amounts to a tacit acceptance of sharia as the way of the future. Do moderate Muslims who enjoy the fruits of modernity really want to turn back the clock? If so, the choice for Europeans is either to fight or submit. A grim prospect either way for a populace that has succumbed to socialist decadence.
Young men will fight for status if they cannot otherwise find it through personal achievement. Life on the dole for young Muslims provides fertile ground for a generation that will seize what they cannot otherwise earn for themselves. Criminality and violence will follow as surely as night follows day. Socialism does not provide an answer. How are young men supposed to find a vested interest in a society that offers bread, but no chance for a meaningful life? Islam offers meaning if only in a chance to lash back with nihilism.
In the past Europeans have confronted crisis with some form of Fascism. The rise of far right-wing parties should come as no surprise. The irony is that Europe’s passive and coddled population will be caught between two mutually incompatible ideologies. It’s time to choose sides. So, what’s it going to be? Confrontation or submission? There is no middle ground.
