I think the mistake the gay population makes is to think that the Left wants power to advocate for gay rights, when it is the other way round: Advocating gay rights to get themselves power. The Left will happily continue to ignore the oppression of women, condone the most vicious retrograde sort of jew-hatred, and, yes, leave gays to their fate at the hands of Islam if that will gain them more and more power, which is all the Left truly desires.
