One problem one faces when examining Islam is taqiyya, which essentially means to lie for the sake of Islam. It is defined as the intention is to deceive unbelievers about Islam, for the explicit purpose of assuaging doubts and concerns about Islam and encouraging conversion. When a religion officially allows lying to further its goals, all bets are off since there is no honor as we define it. This is to me is like believing a known, confirmed liar; yet so many want to believe that Islam is a misunderstood, peaceful religion. Once they have their reformation and change the anti-humanitarian tenets of their religion, then and only then can they be trusted as a religion/culture. That is not to say that individuals can not be judged independently, as I have done in the past with my friends from the Middle East. Just as Christianity had to change, we should expect no less from Islam
